Dr. Ali Al Fazari is an American and Canadian Board-certified and Canadian-trained gastroenterologist.
Dr. Ali completed his internal medicine residency training at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada and then pursued gastroenterology fellowship training at the University Of Ottawa, Canada. He worked at three large academic medical institutions in Canada including Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Civic and General Hospitals in Ottawa, Ontario and the Western General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Ali has more than 15 years of clinical experience as a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist. With his extensive outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology and hepatology experience, he focuses on community as well as complex GI diseases including but not limited to oesophagal diseases, dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, intestinal diseases including celiac disease and inflammatory bowel diseases, and in hepatology including the management of acute and chronic liver disease and their associated complications.
Dr. Ali worked at leading tertiary hospitals including Tawam Hospital in Al Ain and American Hospital Dubai. Dr. Ali is an active academic physician holding the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine from the UAE University and a Clinical Professor from Gulf Medical University. He has a passion for teaching gastroenterology and is the founding and current President of the Emirates Digestive Diseases International Conference.
His main research interests are gastric and colonic inflammation, gastrointestinal carcinogenesis, bioenergetics and hepatotoxicity. He published many of his pioneering research works in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Ali is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada and a member of the American Gastroenterology Association.
