Dr. Miriam Byrne, MB, BCh BAO, MRCSI, MD, FRCSI(Plast) is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with 20 years’ clinical experience, specialising in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, all aspects of aesthetic surgery with subspeciality interest in body contouring following massive weight loss. She received her medical degree from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland (MB BCh BAO) graduating with honours, and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2005 (MRCSI). Subsequently, having completed the competitive National Higher Specialist Training Programme and Intercollegiate Specialist Examination of the United Kingdom and Ireland, she was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI[Plast]). Following this, she completed the Breast Microsurgery Fellowship at the world-renowned Royal Marsden Hospital London, and an Advanced Aesthetic Fellowship at the London Clinic, UK. She has also gained further specialist experience from centres of excellence in Spain, Belgium, and Japan to learn from world experts in microsurgery and lymphoedema surgery. In 2017, she was awarded the esteemed American Society of Plastic Surgery Aesthetic International Fellowship which enabled further Aesthetic study in the United States, and United Arab Emirates.
In addition, she earned a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD), from Trinity College Dublin, for her research work on the interrelationship between coagulation and inflammation in a major cancer model. She has also received a Diploma in Molecular Prevention Division of Cancer Prevention from the National cancer Institute Bethesda Maryland Washington U.S, and a Diploma in Counselling from Maynooth University.
Dr. Byrne has worked at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi,= for the past four years, focusing on Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast and Body Contouring Surgery. She has developed her own successful practice treating Emirati, expatriate, and international patients, having worked with a world expert in body contouring after massive weight loss.
Dr. Byrne is an Examiner for the Plastic Surgery Consultant and Associate Licensing with the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, and a member of the review board for the Department of Health. She is actively involved in clinical teaching, and holds a postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education, from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Glasgow. Dr. Byrne is an active member of multiple plastic surgery associations, and had published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapter. She is passionate about improving her patients’ health through continued evidenced-based practice, research, and surgical innovation. In the clinic setting, Dr. Miriam is known for her sensitivity and compassion to patients, and her exceptional post procedural care. She strives to provide attention to detail, excellence in care for aesthetic and reconstructive surgery patient’s alike, ensuring high patient satisfaction and safe, natural results.
